Visit of the The »Schoduvel«, the Braunschweig version of Carnival, the largest carnival parade in Northern Germany
The »Schoduvel«, the Braunschweig version of Carnival, has a 700-year tradition. It is the largest carnival parade in Northern Germany, with more than 40 brass bands and approximately 1800 participants spanning a length of 6.5 km. Many Braunschweig and Braunschweig area clubs dedicated to the celebration of carnival will participate in the parade. During the parade, which lasts about 4.5 hours, spectators are showered in »Kamelle« (different kinds of candy thrown off the carnival floats). Downtown Braunschweig will be turned into a large outdoor party – and we want to be part of it!
Date: Sunday, March 6, 2011
Time: 12:00 h
Place: Braunschweig main station, entry hall
We will head towards downtown together to see the parade and catch our fair share »Kamelle«.
Everybody should try to become part of this experience and dress up. It’s Carnival after all!
